Self-Published Author Success Story

At the workshop for people interested in writing for children that I conducted for the New Hope Community School last night, I was asked about self-publishing. That’s becoming a more frequent question these days.

Then I came across this article today. It’s from the Wall Street Journal a couple of months ago, and for anyone considering self-publishing, it explains some of the things the author (Darcie Chan) did to successfully market her book.

How I Became a Best-Selling Author

  1. How inspiring! Thanks for sharing Darcie Chan’s story. I’m in the query process now, and while I’d love to see my novel in a brick and mortar store, the thought of self or Indie publishing is also so intriguing. Love to read stories like this!

  2. What an excellent article, Anita. Thanks for posting it! It IS inspiring, but it also shows you need money and time to invest in reviews and ads, and the percentage of success is still very low 😦 No matter how you look at it, it’s not easy selling books or getting published! I’m happy for Darcie, though!
