Reminder – Buzzword Contest

Here’s a really cute contest from Gotham Writers’ Workshop:

What’s the Buzz(word)?

Here’s the description: Create a buzzword that you think might emerge next year and give us a brief definition of the word and a sample sentence using the word. Entries are limited to no more than 100 words for the buzzword, definition, and sample sentence.

Here are examples (which are too cute):

appstinence
from Kathy Cornell, Exeter, RIDefinition: voluntary refrainment from the purchase, downloading or use of apps on one’s computer or phone
Usage: When I caught my husband checking football scores on his phone during our anniversary dinner, I told him to try appstinence for a few weeks.

capacheapo
from Karen Chase, Kent, CT

Definition: A small regular coffee with plain milk.
Usage: Having recently lost his job and with no prospects for the future, James ordered a capacheapo to go with the newspaper he found laying on the table.

bitextual
from Laura Preble, La Mesa, CA

Definition: able to have a conversation and text simultaneously
Usage: While listening to John’s long, boring story, the bitextual co-ed updated her Facebook status to “bored.”

Deadline is Jan. 12, 2012.

Best of all, it’s free! Get more information here.
