Pun Writing Contest

From Gotham Writers’ Workshop:

The Challenge
Write a 100-word punning parody in the style of a favorite book or author. Include a punning title that alludes to the original work or author.

Entry is free but limited to one per person.

For pun writing tips read Pollack’s Wall Street Journal article “What in the Word? Rules For Better Punmanship,”  the BBC’s “Puns and Other Word Play,” NPR’s “Not Jest for Pun,” or visitThe Pun Also Rises

The Judges
Gotham staff will select 25 semi-finalists from all entries received. John Pollack will select the winner and two runner’s up.

The Prizes
The winner will receive:

  • 10-week Writing Workshop ($420 value)
  • $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card
  • Subscription to The Writer magazine (12 issues)
  • The Pun Also Rises
  • Publication in Gotham’s Fall Course Catalog

The runners up will each receive a copy of The Pun Also Rises.
